Peptone is a spray dried powder, manufactured by a controlled enzymatic hydrolysis of animal tissue. The most commonly used enzymes are pepsin, papain and pancreatin. The latter containing trypsin.
Pepsin will cut the peptide chain anywhere there is a phenylalanine or leucine bond.
Papain cuts in the peptide chain adjacent to arginine, lysine, phenylalanine and glycine. Pancreatin has its action at arginine, lysine, tyrosine, tryptophan, phenylalanine and leucine bonds.
The tissues are hydrolysed to produce straw coloured peptones which are highly nutritious and clearly soluble in water. Peptones contain a mix of peptides, free amino acids and growth factors.
Due to the low sodium chloride concentration Formedium™Pepton is well suited for cultivation of yeast cells.

To accept your quote locate the original email with the quote attached and click the "Accept quote and proceed to payment" link.
You will be redirected to our website where you will need to login with your username and password (unless already logged in).
Once you have logged in, a summary of your order will appear, simply scroll down to enter your payment details or purchase order number and click "Place Order".
Orders within the UK
Orders within the UK with an order value of £250 or more (excluding VAT) will be delivered free of charge. Orders within the UK with an order value of less than £250 (excluding VAT) will be charged delivery of £12.50.
Orders from the European Union
The cost of shipping orders will vary by destination and weight. All freight and transportation charges will be quoted in advance and are clearly indicated on the invoice.
Orders from the US
Deliveries to the US start from less than $32. Formedium can assist you with or organise your US import permits All freight charges are based on weight of order. Import tax is the responsibility of the purchaser and their clearing agents.
Orders from the rest of the world
Formedium deliver worldwide. Customs restrictions may apply so please do contact us if you have any queries. The cost of shipping orders will vary by destination and weight.
